Call for People to Share Workspace

It’s been a successful year for Plan Resonate and I’ve recently expanded the studio. I’m looking for people who are interested in occasionally sharing some of the newly available space here at 26th & Alabama in San Francisco.

A few months ago I was involved in an effort to organize a collaborative physical workspace in San Francisco. That effort became The Hat Factory. You can learn about them at their site and at the Coworking Wiki.

I’d like to do something that is similar to the Hat Factory and different. My space isn’t cafe like, it’s home like. The new office space is a former bedroom. This post includes pics of the entrance to the new office, and the office space, and a guest workspace in my downstairs studio.

I live in a courtyard house in a great part of the Mission. It’s near cafes and restaurants and Bernal Hill. My housemate and I have a nice collection of plants and books. There’s broadband wifi and the financial times every day. Nearby Philz Coffee serves some of the best coffee in town.

I’ve had colleagues work here off and on in the past and it’s been a lot of fun. They’ve been designers, researchers, writers, bloggers, consultants and project managers. They’re all people who telecommute and enjoy having a creative workspace away from home. The space is perfect for people who produce media; music, podcasts, video, blogs, and other web oriented content. It may also be good for techy management types and free thinking financiers. People come with their laptop and have an easy time getting to work. These have been colleagues and friends from San Francisco, and the broader bay area. I’ve hosted people from out of state and out of the country.

It’s a casual and social environment. A lot of good work gets done here. I like sharing ideas, and I’m building a diverse community of people with various skills and compatible work habits to share ideas with.

Regarding rent; I’m more interested in having the right people here than I am in renting out the space. I will want people to contribute to the rent and utility costs, and I’m willing work out arrangements that are reasonable. I don’t plan to use the same fee structure as the Hat Factory. This is a different type of space. Past and present clients and colleagues are especially encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity. It’s a standing offer. C’mon over.

Regarding schedules; As of October 17, 2006 I’d like to find several people to share the space between 4-10 hours per week each. Maybe you have a home office and you’d like an occasional change of pace. Maybe you’ll be in town for two weeks and you want to squeeze in a couple days of work between conferences or trips to Napa.

Please email me if you’re interested. I’m not in a hurry to fill the space and I plan to be pretty selective about it. It’ll help if you let me know about yourself and it’ll help more if you have some examples of your work you can share. I’m most interested in people whose work, vision, and values are compatible with what I’m doing. Thanks!
